Beaufort First Floor Renovation

In love with the 1980's home that they raised their children in, these homeowners wanted to bring the entire downstairs up to date.  Dark paneling, dull kitchen cabinetry, inefficient layouts, and numerous other outdated finishes were all on the list of things to address.

High on their list of priorities was reworking the master bathroom in order to include a walk in shower and a larger tub.  Working with a tight space, we created an open feel by expanding the original shower and window to a much larger format, and then created continuity by taking the marble tub deck into the shower as the bench seat and placing the frameless glass shower enclosure directly on the marble. We added closet space back into the bathroom by creating a unique built in wardrobe within the vanity, with hanging space above and drawers below. Each vanity sink was mirrored on the sides and front to make the room feel larger, and recessed lighting was installed over the sinks, as well as throughout the bathroom ceiling. A chandelier over the tub adds sparkle and charm. Crema marfil tile was used all throughout in various patterns on the floor, walls, and around the glass block window.

In the living room, the dark panelling was painted and rich, custom cabinetry was built into the back wall creating a place for wine storage as well as bookshelves and cabinets for other storage needs.  The kitchen layout was reconfigured for a more open layout, and the entire bar area was created by opening up the wall between the kitchen and living room.  Warm stained cabinetry was built, beautiful granite was chosen, and new lighting and flooring added the finishing touches.  Other areas in the home that received complete facelifts were the downstairs powder bath, laundry room, dining room, office, and an upstairs bathroom.

The excitement these homeowners feel about their remodeled home rivals the day they bought it, 30+ years ago.  They are planning on many decades ahead of them of enjoying their luxurious new home and having the space to enjoy their grown children and grandchildren.  With four grandchildren, their four new barstools stay wonderfully occupied these days.
